eBay Pulse only shows 1 listing

Josh Kulp has the only listing on the main eBay Pulse. eBay used to show 10 listings per top level category. But now, you have to drill down to a leaf category to see any other pulse listings.

I liked seeing more listings on the default Pulse page.

  1. I think the reason it’s only showing one listing right now, is because most of the other big sellers have decided to try the classifieds and/or had some of their auctions removed for trying to sell via digital download outside of the classifieds.

But that’s just my guess 🙂

  2. You must be right. I just noticed Kekoa is listing his eBook under the Kekoa64 eBay ID today. He has one listing under MysteryGiant’s ID. All are Classified Ad format.

His eBook for sale on a CD may have been terminated by eBay because the listing is “No longer available”.

I wonder why. It seems to have been in compliance with policy.

  3. I saw the main eBay Pulse page with just 1 listing a few months ago. I couldn’t explain it, but just figured it was a quirk with eBay’s algorithms.

BTW, this Friday it seems eBay is having a Workshop on the new digital goods policy. I won’t make it myself (until much later), but I would imagine it’ll be flooded with attendees asking tons of questions. There will be a couple eBay higher-ups there to host the thing (I think Griff and the eBay rep who originally posted the new policy, Brian something).

  4. Hi Jake,

This is an opportunity for a developer (with spare time) to invent a better eBay Pulse.

I wonder how many listings the digital download policy affected? I can’t really think of a way to research it. Can’t search by title, category, or shipping method.

Hmmm… Maybe the only way is to research sellers’ sales who mostly sold eBooks. Note to self…

  5. Kekoa’s classified ads are in violation because he is listing in the wrong category. Ebay states that all digital items must be listed as a classified ad AND be listed in the everything else, information category. Also, you cannot put a paypal pay button inside the ad. I verified this via ebay live help rep.

  6. The Ebay main Pulse Page ius Dead to most ebayers, 99.9% of us are tired of ebay’s Lazy and unfair business , not to mention invisible ebay pulse policy…..most likely people are being paid off to keep thier mouths shut about the pulse page…only people working at ebay know the truth.
Rummor has it, from inside ebay, the several workers there are rigging the pulse page, and allowing realitives to cash in.
I did email ebay about this…so far no return mail back.
But I didn’t think there would be since those people would intercept my mail before it was seen by the higher ups working there.
